How We Help You Plan Your Santorini Stay (Beyond Just the Cave House)

When people book with us, they think they’re just booking a cave house.

In reality, the cave is only one piece of the puzzle. The transfers, the boat day, the places you eat, and whatever the weather decides to do all shape the trip just as much as the four walls you sleep in.

This is how we usually help.

Getting you from plane or ferry to the cave

The first thing most guests ask is how to get from the airport or port to the house.

Rather than leaving you to negotiate with random drivers, we usually arrange it for you. We work with one transfer company we know and trust. You send:

  • your flight or ferry details
  • how many people you are

and that’s it. The driver knows your name and knows where to drop you, so you’re not standing in a car park trying to explain the location of a cave house in a village they’ve never heard of.

By the time you’re walking through the lanes towards the house, the hardest part of the journey is already done.

The catamaran day

Almost everyone asks about a catamaran cruise. It’s one of those big “Santorini” days.

From a distance the options all look similar, but they’re not. Over time we’ve narrowed it down to a couple of cruise companies we actually like: good crew, decent food, sensible numbers on board, and no strange surprises.

You tell us what you’re after (quiet, romantic, more social, sunset, daytime) and we match you with something that fits. If you want us to, we book it for you and slot it into your stay so it doesn’t clash with arrivals, departures or days when the wind is going to make the sea feel like a washing machine.

If the forecast suddenly changes, we’ll tell you and see whether it can be moved. It’s still Greece, so nothing is guaranteed, but we don’t just shrug and say “oh well”.

Eating well instead of playing restaurant roulette

You can eat brilliantly on Santorini, and you can also spend a lot of money on a forgettable meal with a nice view. From a distance it’s quite hard to tell which is which.

We keep a small, up-to-date list of places we genuinely like: simple tavernas, more “special” spots for birthdays and proposals, and restaurants that look after vegetarians and vegans properly and don’t feel like tourist traps.

If you’d like us to, we make reservations for you, tell them you’re staying with us, and send you a pin so you’re not wandering around in the dark trying to find “that taverna someone mentioned once”.

If you’re celebrating something or have any dietary needs, say so early. It’s much easier to get it right when we know in advance.

Keeping an eye on the weather

The weather here looks perfect on Instagram. In real life there’s wind, heatwaves, the odd cloudy day, and the occasional stubborn little shower.

We keep an eye on it while you’re here because it affects almost everything: boat days, walking plans, when to do the classic viewpoints, when it’s better to just slow down and hide from the sun.

If you ask “What should we do tomorrow?”, our answer will quietly factor the forecast in. Maybe we’ll say “Tomorrow is a good day for the catamaran; the wind drops in the afternoon” or “Save that long walk for the cooler day after tomorrow.”

You don’t need to check three different weather apps. We’re already doing that.

All the small questions

Once you’ve booked, there’s always a steady trickle of questions.

How much cash do we actually need?
Do we have to book things in advance?
Is that walk realistic in the heat?
Where can we get good coffee or a quiet drink nearby?
Can I eat here if I’m gluten free?

This is the easy part for us, because we’re here all the time. We’d always rather you ask than stress or guess.

Where the cave house fits into all this

The cave house is the quiet base everything else hangs off.

It’s where you drop your bags after the journey, where you come back salty and tired after the catamaran, where you nap in the middle of a hot day, and where you finally sleep properly after dinner.

We focus on simple things that matter more than they sound: a good mattress, a decent shower, proper cleaning, fresh air, and a space that feels private and calm once you close the door.

The island can be busy and full-on. The cave is where you reset.

How it tends to play out

Most stays end up following a similar pattern.

You book and send us your travel details. We arrange your transfer if you want one. We help you choose and book a catamaran cruise and a couple of dinners that suit you, keeping an eye on the weather in the background. You arrive and walk into the cave already knowing that tomorrow is basically sorted, and the day after is mostly planned too.

Some guests like everything organised. Others just want the basics in place and then improvise. Either way, you don’t have to pull the whole trip together on your own from another country.

You get yourselves to Santorini. We help with the moving parts once you’re here.
